SOUTH ASIAN & ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION 

Canada continues to recognize and celebrate the diversity of its residents with the spotlight falling on people of Asian and South Asian heritage during the month of May. It was a funfilled night with some great music, delicious food and follwed by cultural events at Hugh Foster Hall - 141 King St, Milton, where the function was organised by Hon. MPP Indira Naidoo Harris and Hon. Mayor of Milton Gordon Krantz also took part in the event. Various organizations performed Music & Dance, HARTA did it's part by contributing two performances


1. Bharatanatyam performance by Thirumahal Samy 

2. Instrumental Performance by Sagesh Sooriyakumaran : Flute & 

    Nijash Sooriyakumaran : Violin


All participants were honoured by Hon. MPP Indira Naidoo Harris. By proclaiming May as both Asian Heritage Month and South Asian Heritage Month the country acknowledges the long and rich history of Canadians of Asian descent and contributions of these communities to the success and vitality of Canada.

JANUARY IS OFFICIALLY DECLARED AS TAMIL HERITAGE MONTH


The Canadian Parliament voted to designate January as Tamil Heritage Month, to “recognise the contributions that Tamil-Canadians have made to Canadian society, the richness of Tamil language and culture, and the importance of educating and reflecting upon Tamil heritage for future generations by declaring January, every year, Tamil Heritage Month.”
